Full competition results: 32nd Polish Youth Olympics (Summer Sports) — Polish Championships

The biggest squad at the regatta closed Sunday on the Bydgoszcz-Brdyujście regatta course with a scoreline nobody had it down for: three silvers and no gold. The final day of the 32nd Polish Youth Olympics (Ogólnopolska Olimpiada Młodzieży) and Polish Junior Championships in canoe sprint, held from 30 July to 2 August 2026, handed out 39 medals across thirteen finals — five 200 m sprints and eight long-distance races — and it quietly reversed several storylines built over the previous two evenings.

Sunday 2 August: 39 medals across 13 finals

Sunday 2 August ran to a different rhythm from the rest of the 32nd Polish Youth Olympics and Polish Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz. The junior 200 m sprints went off in the morning; the afternoon belonged to mass starts over 3000 m for younger-junior women and 5000 m for both age groups. The day's finals put 229 athletes into 217 boats — more than any previous day, because long-distance racing has no heats and sends the entire field onto the water at once.

Regionally, Sunday belonged to Greater Poland: four golds and eleven medals. The hosts from Kuyavian-Pomeranian, who had led the medal table after two days, left the course on 0-5-2 — seven medals, no titles. The exact inverse of Friday and Saturday, when they set the pace.

Three golds each: Piasecka, Nowak and Kulpa complete the 200 m sweep

Three athletes left Bydgoszcz with three golds each, and all three completed the set on Sunday morning.

Julia Piasecka of UKS Silvant Kajak Elbląg won the K1 200 m in 44.23, 0.54 s ahead of Anastazja Michalska of CWZS Zawisza Bydgoszcz. Added to her 500 m and 1000 m titles, that is the shortest event in the programme on top of the two longest — 44 seconds of raw power, two minutes at threshold, and four-plus minutes of aerobic work. That range shows up once every few age groups.

Sandra Nowak of KS Warta Poznań did the same in a canoe: 51.23 over 200 m, 0.86 s clear of Natasza Szymańska of WTS Astoria Bydgoszcz, after earlier wins in C1 and C2 over 500 m. Third in that final was Maja Górska of KST Włókniarz Chełmża — her third medal of the championships.

Bartosz Kulpa completed the men's set. With Maciej Bargiel he took the K2 200 m in 33.98, 0.69 s ahead of Lars Bubacz and Kamil Szreder of Zawisza. The same pair had won the K2 500 m two days earlier by four hundredths of a second, and Kulpa added the 1000 m alongside Paweł Szott. Three distances, three titles, two different crews.

First golds for Energetyk, Cresovia and Victoria Sztum over 5000 m

The most interesting racing, though, happened away from the top of the start lists.

Leonid Liuliaiev of KS Energetyk Poznań won the K1 200 m in 37.53, 0.52 s ahead of Dawid Kwaśniewski-Droździel of LKK Hubertus Biały Bór. Liuliaiev had been seventh over 500 m on Friday and third in the mixed K2 on Saturday. Energetyk took just two medals in Bydgoszcz — but one of them is gold, on a distance nobody had them down for.

Franciszek Oset of SKS Cresovia Białystok spent two days finishing off the podium: sixth in the C1 500 m, fifth over 1000 m. On Sunday he won the C1 5000 m in 20:43.22, 3.79 s ahead of Alex Skrzypiec of MRKS Gdańsk. It is Cresovia's only medal of the championships — and it is a title.

Heormi Kamarov of KS Victoria Sztum followed the same arc: seventh in the younger-junior C1 1000 m on Saturday, gold over 5000 m on Sunday in 22:14.75, 3.06 s clear of Arkadi Chirilenco of KS AZS-AWF Poznań. His club's only medal of the week.

The common thread is obvious: long-distance racing rewards a different athlete than the sprint course does. Five kilometres on the water is a discipline inside the discipline — stroke economy, tactics at the turning buoys and the ability to keep thinking, rather than peak power over the first thirty metres. Sunday handed an opening to the people Friday and Saturday had pushed down the results sheet.

Zawisza Bydgoszcz and AZS-AWF Poznań: how the biggest squads finished

CWZS Zawisza Bydgoszcz arrived at their own course with 47 athletes, by far the largest entry. After two days they had fifteen medals. On Sunday they added three, all silver: the K1 200 m (Anastazja Michalska), the K2 200 m (Bubacz and Szreder) and the C1 200 m (Eryk Baczyński). Across the eight long-distance finals that closed the programme, the club took nothing at all.

That completed the picture of their championships: eighteen medals, three titles. Zawisza were everywhere and almost never first.

KS AZS-AWF Poznań is its own story. The club entered 32 athletes — the second-largest squad — and went two full days without winning a final. The gold came in the second-to-last race of the programme, when Dawid Janiak took the junior K1 5000 m in 18:52.33, 3.31 s ahead of Oliwier Mazur of MKS MOS Wrocław. Janiak had been fourth over 1000 m the day before. One title from 32 entered names, in the final hour of the meet — and it rescued the club's week.

There was a hard ending for Kacper Stanek of KS Warta Poznań. A member of the crew that won junior world C4 500 m gold in Montemor-o-Velho a year ago, he finished seventh in both of his Bydgoszcz finals and did not complete the 5000 m.

The 3000 m and 5000 m races: one boat in seven did not finish

The mass-start races also produced the sharpest statistic of the championships. The younger-junior K1 5000 m started 40 boats — eight were not classified. The junior K1 5000 m started 35 and lost seven. The younger-junior C1 3000 m lost three of fifteen.

Across the eight long-distance finals, 25 of 172 boats failed to make the finish — close to one in seven. For comparison: all 45 boats in the five 200 m sprints finished, with no disqualifications.

The standout of the block was Fortunat Łakomy of UKS Victoria Wałcz. He won the younger-junior K1 1000 m on Saturday and the K1 5000 m on Sunday in 18:45.50, 8.84 s ahead of Jakub Gaber of KS GPower Gorzów. Wałcz turned six entered athletes into five medals across the championships.

Among the women, the longest distance belonged to Martyna Kowalska of UMKS Zryw Wolsztyn — 20:32.46 over 5000 m, 4.64 s ahead of Oliwia Borucka of KKW 1929 Kraków. It was Kowalska's second title of the meet; for Borucka it was a third silver from three starts over 500, 1000 and 5000 m — second every time, twice behind Julia Piasecka, once behind Kowalska.

In the younger-junior category Magdalena Turowska of Dojlidy Białystok Canoe & Kajak Team doubled up: after Saturday's C1 500 m gold she won the C1 3000 m by 19.71 s. Milena Janiak of UKS Olimpijczyk Nowe Chechło, second over 500 m on Saturday, took the K1 3000 m in 13:58.44 — 11.66 s ahead of Antonina Pańczyszyn of Zryw Wolsztyn.

The block opened with the younger-junior K2 3000 m, won by Katarzyna Dyjak and Aleksandra Sidor of KS GPower Gorzów in 13:04.95. Two days earlier the same pair had finished eighth in the K2 500 m. It is hard to find a cleaner demonstration that long distance is its own event.

What's next: Polish Canoe Marathon Championships and Olympic Hopes

For the athletes who made their case over the long distances on Sunday, the next date that matters is 1 September and the start of the Polish Canoe Marathon Championships. For the younger-junior age group the key start is September in Bratislava — the Olympic Hopes Regatta, the first serious international test for the 2010–2011 birth years.

The full calendar to the end of the season, the medal tables split between the Youth Olympics and the Junior Championships and the complete list of champions are in our Bydgoszcz 2026 championship summary with the full medal table. The opening two days are covered in our report on the finals of 31 July and 1 August.

Who won three gold medals in Bydgoszcz 2026?

Julia Piasecka, Sandra Nowak and Bartosz Kulpa each won three titles, all in the junior age group, and all three completed the set in Sunday's 200 m sprints.

Why did so many athletes fail to finish the 3000 m and 5000 m races?

Across the eight long-distance finals, 25 of 172 boats were not classified — close to one in seven. The races start from a line, run around turning buoys and field up to 40 boats; the younger-junior K1 5000 m lost eight of forty starters. All five 200 m sprints finished intact.

How many medals did the host region win on the final day?

Kuyavian-Pomeranian closed Sunday on 0-5-2: seven medals and no titles, against four golds for Greater Poland. CWZS Zawisza Bydgoszcz, the largest squad at the regatta, took three silvers on the day and finished the championships with eighteen medals and three titles.

When and where was the final day of the 2026 Polish Junior Canoe Championships held?

The closing day was raced on Sunday 2 August 2026 on the Bydgoszcz-Brdyujście regatta course. The full programme — the 32nd Polish Youth Olympics and the Polish Junior Championships — ran from 30 July to 2 August 2026.

Where can I find the full 2026 Bydgoszcz results?

Complete results for all 45 finals, plus heats, semifinals and start lists, are on the 32nd Polish Youth Olympics and Polish Junior Championships event page.

Sunday in Brdyujście showed something the two preceding days could not: give the field enough distance and the sprint-course hierarchy stops applying. Fortunat Łakomy, Franciszek Oset and Heormi Kamarov left Bydgoszcz with titles nobody would have assigned them after two days — and their next chance to prove the point is the Polish Canoe Marathon Championships in September.
