Anna Puławska is the defining figure of Poland's current canoe sprint generation: a double world champion from Milan 2025, a two-time Olympic medallist from Tokyo and a serving soldier in the Polish Armed Forces. She races for KS AZS-AWF Gorzów and does her best work over 500 metres in the K1 and K2. Her rise came alongside Karolina Naja. The pair took world championship silver in the K2 500 in Szeged in 2019, then Olympic silver in Tokyo, where Puławska added K4 500 bronze together with Naja, Justyna Iskrzycka and Helena Wiśniewska. In 2022 she was close to untouchable: three European titles in Munich — K1, K2 and K4, all over 500 m — plus two world titles in Dartmouth, winning the K2 500 with Naja and powering the victorious Polish K4. Milan 2025 brought the crowning moment. Puławska became the first Polish woman ever to win a world title in the K1 500, then doubled up with Martyna Klatt in the K2 500. A year earlier in Paris she had finished an agonising fourth in the Olympic K4 500 final.
