Helena Wiśniewska is an Olympic bronze medallist from Tokyo and a world champion in the K2 200. Born in Bydgoszcz in April 1999, she races for CWZS Zawisza Bydgoszcz, serves as a professional soldier in the Polish Armed Forces, and is at her most dangerous in crew boats — K2 and K4 — over 200 and 500 metres. She reached the world's elite early. At nineteen she took world championship bronze in the K4 500 in Montemor-o-Velho, sharing the boat with Karolina Naja, Anna Puławska and Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, and repeated the result a year later in Szeged while adding European Games bronze in Minsk. The arc peaked in Tokyo, with Olympic bronze in the K4 500 alongside Naja, Puławska and Justyna Iskrzycka — a performance that earned her the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2021. The next chapter came in a double kayak with Martyna Klatt. In Duisburg in 2023 the pair won the world title in the K2 200 and took silver in the K2 500, then carried that partnership to the Paris Olympics, winning their K2 500 heat by 0.02 seconds over Sweden and advancing to the semifinals. Wiśniewska remains one of the cornerstones of the golden generation of Polish women's kayaking — [a group that shaped Poland's crews](/news/kadra-walcz-czerwiec-2026-en) from Tokyo through Paris and kept the K2 and K4 among the fastest boats in the world.
