Martyna Klatt is the reigning world champion in the K2 500, crowned in Milan in 2025, and an Olympian from Paris 2024. Born and raised in Poznań, she races for KS AZS-AWF Poznań, serves in the Polish Armed Forces, and covers everything from K1 to K4 — though the double kayak over 200 and 500 metres is where she has built her name. Her international rise began in 2022 and arrived in full a year later in Duisburg, where she and Helena Wiśniewska won the world title in the K2 200 and took silver in the K2 500. The same pairing carried Poland's colours in Paris, winning their K2 500 heat by 0.02 seconds over Sweden and advancing to the semifinals. Then came 2025, the season that changed everything: world championship gold in the K2 500 alongside Anna Puławska in Milan, followed by a nomination for the 91st Przegląd Sportowy poll for Poland's Athlete of the Year. In 2026 she has kept her place at the sharp end of [Poland's squad](/news/kadra-walcz-czerwiec-2026-en), logging 26 starts across K1, K2 and K4 with four medals, two of them gold — spanning the domestic circuit, the [World Cup](/news/montreal-canoe-sprint-world-cup-2026-recap-en) and the [European Championships in Montemor-o-Velho](/news/poland-european-canoe-sprint-championships-2026-borucki-en). The season's calendar still holds a home World Championships in Poznań (26–30 August), on the Malta course she knows better than almost anyone.
