Dorota Borowska is Poland's leading sprint canoeist: a three-time European champion in the C1 200, European Games champion from Kraków 2023 and a two-time Olympian. Born on 27 February 1996 in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, she has raced for KS Posnania since the start of 2026 and specialises in the C1 and C2 over 200 and 500 metres. Her first world championship podiums came in 2018 in Montemor-o-Velho — silver in the C2 200 and bronze in the C1 200. In Tokyo she placed fourth in the Olympic C1 200 final, and Copenhagen 2021 brought world silver in the mixed C2 200 alongside another C1 200 bronze. Her European crowns in the C1 200 came in Poznań (2021), Szeged (2024) and Račice (2025). Before Paris she faced an obstacle no training plan prepares you for: traces of clostebol appeared in her sample, traced back to a veterinary ointment she had used on her dog's injured paws at a camp in Sabaudia, Italy. The Court of Arbitration for Sport found her without fault and lifted the suspension days before the Games — and Borowska took her place on the start line of the C1 200 in Paris. In 2026 she has already banked five medals — two golds and three bronzes — including a double bronze at the [European Championships in Montemor-o-Velho](/news/poland-european-canoe-sprint-championships-2026-borucki-en), where only [Liudmyla Luzan](/news/liudmyla-luzan-four-golds-montemor-2026-en) and Olimpia Della Giustina beat her in the C1 200 final — a rivalry [flagged before the championships](/news/2026-eca-canoe-sprint-european-championships-preview-en). She also won the Polish title over 200 metres, securing her individual place for the home World Championships in Poznań (26–30 August) on the ranking road towards Los Angeles 2028.
